The best part of summer in Sydney is there’s no shortage of outdoor bar areas to bathe in the sunlight. We’ve rounded up some of the trendiest beer gardens for you to check out this summer.
Can’t find a sitter? You’ll find plenty of family-friendly places that will keep your kids entertained for hours while you kick back.

The Newport – Kalinya Street, Newport

The Newport has taken off as the ultimate location for socialising this summer. The place is styled with Hampton-esque décor of neutral timber lounges splashed with vibrant oranges, complemented by stunning ocean views.
While the grown-ups will enjoy the ritzy ambience and live music, the young ones will be in heaven in the kids’ area – complete with ping pong, badminton and a giant scrabble board to keep them occupied.

Since I Left You – Kent Street, Sydney CBD

If you’re looking for garden getaway to chill out after work, Since I Left You (SILY) is the place to go. Named after the Avalanches song, music is a key priority here for a good time. In the courtyard furnished modestly with fairy lights strung overhead, you can hear live music on Thursday nights and a soundtrack mix of funky, soulful songs on the others.
To ramp up your Tuesday, swing by SILY after work for the weekly trivia quiz night.

The Fiddler – Corner of Windsor & Commercial Road, Rouse Hill

Cleaned up, revamped and redesigned, the Fiddler has become a pub of elegance and sophistication. There are plenty of alfresco drinking spots to choose from with their beer garden, courtyard and veranda all featuring beautiful live greenery.
The Fiddler is also complete with a playground for the kids, so you can enjoy your favourite drink in peace.

The Henson – Illawarra Road, Marrickville

Another renovated diamond in the rough, the Henson is unrecognisable as the abandoned pub it once was. Tread past the unsuspecting entrance to the back area and you’ll understand why it’s now such a popular family location. The beer garden atmosphere is animated and laidback, where everyone is welcome, including children and dogs.
The kids will love the games room, which includes a pinball machine, Pacman, and a ball pit. They’ll be begging to stay long after you’re ready for home!

The Oaks – Military Road, Neutral Bay

Appropriately named, The Oaks beer garden is situated around a towering oak tree. The oak tree provides plentiful shade for summer day-drinking and lights up magnificently at night with shimmering fairy lights.
The enchanting location and impressive drinks menu (as well as a range of tasty bar snacks) makes it a must-visit this summer in Sydney.
