Make December a month to remember with these fun festive events in Brisbane!

Whether you’re with the family or catching up with friends for a BBQ this Christmas, there are plenty of things happening in the Brisbane community for you to enjoy. Here are our top picks.

Gold Lotto City Hall Light Spectacular (December 8 – 24)

What better way to experience the magic of Christmas than to witness Brisbane’s City Hall light up the city skyline in a spectacular light show? Perfect for families, the Gold Lotto City Hall Lights show consists of a beautiful animated story that takes you on a 7-minute journey about the beauty of this giving season. The kids will love the dazzling 3D graphics, and will want to see it again and again. Good thing it replays every 15 minutes, from 7:30pm until Midnight!

Brisbane Christmas Fireworks (December 19 – 22)

Watch the night sky light up with brilliant fireworks in South Bank and also in Brisbane City, from 8:15pm – 8:25pm. Make sure you get to Clem Jones Promenade (in South Bank) and beat the crowd for the best views. Make a night of it and listen to the South Bank Christmas Carols at the Piazza then head over to watch the fireworks afterwards.

South Bank Christmas Markets (December 15 – 23)

Struggling to find that perfect Christmas present? The South Bank Christmas Markets are for you (or for anyone who loves wandering around markets!). Be transported to a ye olde world of cobbled streets lined with stalls selling all kinds of festive wares. Here you will also find great food, artisan products, lots of fairy lights and of course, Christmas cheer!

David Jones Christmas Parade (December 15 – 24)

Is it really Christmas without a parade? The David Jones Christmas Parade is a much-anticipated event in Brisbane. Bring the kids at 7pm every night to see the big man in red along with his elves, drummers, dancers and more! With plenty of free entertainment on offer, and lots of colourful floats, this is definitely one you (and the kids) won’t want to miss.

Joy to the World Christmas at the Shed (December 22)

With Christmas carols, face painting, a jumping castle, and a petting zoo, the Joy to the World Christmas at the Shed has everything you need to keep the kids entertained this Christmas. Wander the twilight markets, enjoy the free sausage sizzle from 6pm, and keep an eye out for a visit from the big man himself!
